Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

When you use SparCk, we collect:

• Account info — email address, name, and profile photo (via sign-up or Google OAuth)
• Profile info — LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, and website URLs; preferred contact method; city
• Activity data — event check-ins, selections (who you tapped), mutual matches, and notes you write

We do not collect location data beyond the optional city you set in your profile. Event locations come from event platforms, not from your device.

2. How We Use Your Data

• Matching — to detect mutual selections and create matches
• Notifications — to email you when you have a new match
• Event discovery — to show events from Luma, Eventbrite, and Meetup
• Profile display — to show your name and photo to other attendees at events you check into

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not build behavioral profiles.

3. Who Sees Your Data

Other users can see your name and photo if you've checked into the same event. Mutual matches can see your preferred contact link and any notes you wrote about them. Your selections are private — no one can see who you selected unless the connection is mutual.

Service providers that process your data on our behalf:

• Supabase — database hosting and authentication
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Google — OAuth sign-in (if you choose Google sign-in)

Event data is fetched from Luma, Eventbrite, and Meetup APIs. We do not share your data with these platforms.

4. Google API Data

SparCk's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only use Google account data (name, email, profile photo) to create and identify your SparCk account. We do not share, sell, or use this data for advertising or any purpose beyond operating the service.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies only — for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.

6. Data Retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (from the Profile page), all your data is permanently removed, including your profile, check-ins, selections, matches, and notes. This deletion is immediate and irreversible.

7. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data — your profile, matches, and check-ins are visible in the app
• Correct your data — edit your profile at any time
• Delete your data — permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Profile page

For EU residents (GDPR)

You have additional rights including data portability, restriction of processing, and the right to object. Our legal basis for processing is your consent (provided at sign-up) and legitimate interest (operating the service). Contact us to exercise these rights.

For California residents (CCPA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security policies in our database, and scoped API keys. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

SparCk is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
